realme recently made their entry into smart wearables segment with realme Band, which was a budget fitness band. Following realme Band, realme Watch was launched back in May in India, which was primarily aimed at the budget smartwatch segment. Needless to say, realme Watch has been well received by the consumers as realme sold 15,000 units of realme Watch during first sale, which is really good for a relatively new wearable brand. During the launch, realme had announced that realme Watch will get 100 new watch faces via an OTA update. Now, realme on realme Community has informed that realme Watch will soon receive 20 new watchfaces.
A watch face on a smartwatch is the screen where the user can have a quick glance at the time, weather, activities, and so on, as configured by the user. As a result, watch faces are customizable and give a personal touch to the watch. Out of the box, realme Watch came with only 12 watch faces, which is far from the 100 promised at launch.
realme has announced today via realme Community forums that they are indeed working on the promised watch faces for realme Watch. Around 8 additions are already ready and created, and 12 others are making their way soon. We expect them to keep releasing more watch faces in the future in similar short bursts. This will bring the total watch face count to 32.
Update (31st July 2020): realme India CEO, Madhav Sheth has revealed in the #AskMadhav Episode 18 that the aforementioned new watchfaces will arrive to realme Watches within a month’s time! For those unaware, #AskMadhav is a series where Madhav Sheth responds to popular questions from the community.
realme has announced a competition to name these new watch faces with the chance to win realme Buds Q and even a realme Watch, you can read more about it and participate here. The contest ends on the 14th of July, so we can expect an OTA update with the new watch faces on realme Watch anytime after 14th July. [CONTEST ENDED]
